Dear Soon-to-be Year 7 Treviglas Parent/Carer
I hope this message finds you and your family well, and that you are enjoying the summer holidays.
We are really looking forward to welcoming your child to Treviglas Academy in September and getting to know them as they begin this exciting new chapter. I wanted to share some important reminders and information ahead of the start of term, as I know many of you may have questions or concerns. Please don’t worry—this message should help clarify things.
Start of Term
All students return to Treviglas on Tuesday 2nd September. Year 7 students will begin the day with an extended tutor period, during which they will receive their timetables and other key information.
To help with the transition:
-
Year 7 students will be released from lessons a few minutes early for the first week to help them navigate the school.
-
They will also have early access to the canteen during this time.
-
A free lunch will be provided on the first day from our set menu (which comes highly recommended!).
Uniform Expectations
Please ensure you have carefully reviewed our uniform policy, available on our website here: https://treviglasacademy.eschools.co.uk/web/trust__school_policies/636106
Key points to note:
-
Shoes: Plain black leather with a stepped heel
-
Socks: Plain black
-
Hair: Natural colour only
-
Jewellery: One pair of stud earrings only—no rings, bracelets, or necklaces
-
Piercings: No nose studs or Nose rings (even with a plaster)
-
Nails: No false nails
-
Make-up: No excessive makeup or false lashes
Starting off in the correct uniform is really important, so please do check these details carefully.
MyChildAtSchool (MCAS)
We ask all parents to sign up for the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app, which will become our main communication and payment system from 1st September 2025, replacing School Gateway.
What is MCAS?
MCAS is a parent portal that allows you to view and manage your child’s school experience in real time via a browser or mobile app. Features include:
-
Notifications and messages
-
Attendance tracking
-
Achievement and behaviour updates (replacing SatchelOne)
-
Detention notifications
-
Trip and club payments
-
Dinner money balance
-
Student reports
-
Parental consents and contact details updates
How to Download and Log In:
-
Search for “MyChildAtSchool” by Bromcom Computers Plc on the Google Play or Apple App Store.
-
You will need the email address registered with the school and either:
-
The school postcode: TR7 3JA, or
-
The school ID: 16162
You may not be able to access the app fully until after 2nd September, but we encourage you to download it in advance so you're ready to go.
Mobile Phones
Please remember that students do not need a smartphone for any reason in school. All phones must be switched off and stored in bags during the day. If a student brings a smartphone, it must be handed in and stored securely—we are currently finalising the logistics, but it is likely phones will be collected at reception and returned at the end of the school day.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this information. I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer break, and we can’t wait to meet you and your children in September :)
Kind regards
