Headteacher Letter - November 20205

Dear Parent,

I hope you and your families have all enjoyed a restful half term.

Last half term was another busy one at Treviglas Academy. Students have continued to excel and work hard for their school. Along with all staff, I have been so impressed with the way students have settled into focused learning in the classroom, while also embracing all the other opportunities available to them in school. In particular, our now “not-so-new” Year 7s have also been amazing.

I am incredibly proud of our students’ daily achievements and the way they conduct themselves around school — they are a real credit to you as parents and to our community.

The support the whole school community has shown around the Year 11 and Sixth Form mock exams has again demonstrated the strong culture we have built together.

As we embark on another long half term—with darker evenings and colder weather—I want to reinforce some key messages:

Be Kind and Work Hard
This is non-negotiable for all students and forms the basis of my ambition for Treviglas.

Attendance
It’s so important that students are in school 100% of the time. Days off mean lessons missed, which can lead to students falling behind. We also genuinely miss them when they are absent.

Take the Opportunities Available
Whether it’s the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, joining a sports team, getting involved in a school production, or putting your name forward for student leadership—these are just a few of the valuable opportunities outside the classroom that we encourage all students to take part in.

Period 6
These sessions are for Year 11 and can make a real difference to exam outcomes. All students should now be attending regularly to ensure they maximise their potential in next year’s exams.

Finally, I want to thank you all for your patience with our migration to the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app. As many of you know, the process was not as smooth as we had hoped—or as we were promised. We are now looking into moving school dinner payments to the MCAS app this half term, and we will be in touch with more details once this is confirmed.

Here’s to another exciting term filled with learning and opportunities for all our students and families.

Finally, could I please ask you to complete the short Parent View questionnaire linked below. Your feedback is invaluable and supports our future decisions in school.

Kind regards
