Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award and, in the UK, over 271,439 young people start their D of E journey every year! Here, at Treviglas, you have the option of completing all three levels of the award: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

There are 4 different sections (5 at Gold) that you need to complete for each level of the award. These are volunteering, physical, skills and expedition, which involve the development of life skills. D of E is personal and inclusive: you get to choose what to do for each section and for how long to do it for.

Since its creation in 1956 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the DofE has gone from strength to strength. Guided by the same set of principles and by young people themselves, it’s as relevant today as it was then. The DofE Award was based on Kurt Hahn’s Moray Badge, run by him while Headmaster at Gordonstoun School.

A flexible programme that helps to develop young people for life and work, the numbers speak for themselves: 93% of participants feel that DofE has helped them to work in a team and 84% feel that they have become a more responsible person.

D of E is a commitment and a challenge but if you see it through, you will be rewarded with an internationally recognised award, which is valued by some of the largest employers and universities in the UK. The adventure starts here.
