Treviglas' Got Talent

Students at Treviglas Community College showcased their talents before a packed house last Thursday with a crowd-pleasing variety show.

The college’s annual Rock Mime concert took place December 15 featuring an array of singing, dancing and even magic in an event to celebrate the end of term and kick off the Christmas holiday.

An enthusiastic audience applauded and cheered their way through a slew of acts ranging from large-scale dance routines to folky acoustic versions of well-known rock songs. Students from year 7 all the way up to year 13 took to the stage to wow the crowd with voices and dance moves many of their peers didn’t even know they possessed.

The event is organised and run mainly by students from the college’s sixth form, who also served as hosts and backing musicians throughout the concert.

Head of English Sam Colborne, who supported the students in running the show, said: “Rock Mime is and has always been about celebrating the talents of our students. It’s truly an amazing sight to discover just how talented many our students really are.”

A few notable highlights included Year 11 student Will Prowse’s rendition of rock favourite “Hey There, Deliah” as well as a high-energy dance performance which saw nearly 25 dancers on stage bopping and swaying to a bass-booming techno mix.

In the end, everyone agreed that the event was nothing short of a crowd-pleaser.

Assistant Head Teacher Nicky Vittle said: “Out of all the Rock Mimes I’ve seen here at Treviglas, this year was definitely the best. I think many of our students could give the contestants on Britain’s Got Talent a run for their money.”

The Rock Mime concert is an annual event at Treviglas Community College that occurs every year during the last day of Autumn term.
