Treviglas college hosted the School Sports Partnership primary 'Gifted and Talented' netball training.
Schools from across the partnership- Bodmin, Newquay, St. Austell, Roseland, Brannell and Fowey - were involved. The idea is to get all the talented students together to work at a higher level. The Session was run by Jean Davies coach of the Truro college Netball academy and was helped by Treviglas Sports leaders.
Treviglas Community College's School Sports coordinator, Sean Wells, said "The Sports Dome at Treviglas gave the large numbers of netballers the opportunity to work in small groups honing their skills for the morning in the dry. The talent on show from across the county was amazing. Such events highlight that we need target days like this in sports to support our young sportspersons in Cornwall to appreciate the next steps to elite performance".
The students were charged £2.00 which is going towards sending netballers from Cornwall to coach in Ethiopia – to develop netball over there. This is a part of a bigger Netball South West project which is trying to raise £20.000 for Netball projects in Ethiopia.
In all the day raised over £100.00 with pledges still to come in from some of the schools involved.
