Sports Hub at Treviglas

3D View of the Treviglas Sports Hub

Last year we scooped £1.7 million worth of funding for a new community sports centre.

The Sports Hub @ Treviglas project is moving ahead and you can see the fabulous architect drawings here.

Our students have been involved in the Hub's development and they particularly wanted a climbing wall, (climbing is a popular college activity at Treviglas).  The Architects, St Ives- based Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole listened to our students’ requests and they’ve incorporated a fantastic climbing wall on the outside of the building.

The students also wanted the building to be as ‘green’ as possible, so solar panels, wind catchers and the best use of natural light has also been incorporated into the design.

As the development progresses the students will also get involved in the colour schemes and the design of the Hub’s logo. As well as a fitness suite and a large indoor multi-sports hall, the Hub will be used to hire out equipment such as kayaks and wind surfers.

Treviglas’ bid was praised for its intelligent promotion, encouraging the community to make use of the area's natural resources. Being able to offer this sort of equipment to the community at a reasonable fee will be a huge benefit to our community.

We are hopeful that the Sports Hub will be open for the start of the academic year 2011- watch this space for more updates!
