Athletics
The county athletics championships were held at Par athletics stadium on June 21st. Treviglas entered strong teams from Year 7 and 8 and many of our pupils were highly placed. Final results can be found on the PE notice board. Two of our pupils achieved county champion status, they are Connor Woof and George Starkey both for the discus. One of the most exciting events of the day was Jareth Scott running the 1500m. He put in a brave performance and led the field throughout the race, only to be pipped at the post in last few meters, finishing in second position. Well done to all the students who were selected to represent Treviglas at this prestigious event, we look forward to an even more successful season next year.
Tennis
Mr Wells and Miss Leverton have been running tennis club. The Year 7, 8, 9, 10 girl's tennis teams took part in a triangular tournament against Bodmin and Torpoint.
Cricket
Mr Fallow, Mr Nions and Mr Brooks have run cricket club, with an excellent turn-out each week. Our Under 15 boys had a good cup run, eventually losing to last year’s finalists, Penrice. More and more boys are now playing cricket for local clubs, which is great to see.
George Brooks, Ben Corbally and Danny Brooks have all played representative area cricket, with Danny playing regularly for Cornwall Schools.
Rounders
Mrs Bennetto and Miss Leverton run a weekly rounders club and there are a number of fixtures against other schools.
Basketball
The basketball club meets weekly with an enthusiastic group of regulars. They have a number of fixtures coming up this term.
Netball
Several students from each year have attended county netball trials, we are awaiting the results of their efforts.

The Year 7 Girls hockey team took part in the County tournament held at Penair School. Hockey has been set up this year by Miss Leverton and she is hoping to develop it further next year.
Girls Tag Rugby
Miss Leverton has been running the girl’s tag rugby club. This has been very popular and the girls have had lots of fixtures. They finished the season on a high at the Cornwall Youth games qualifiers held at Tretherras.
Army Challenge
Mr. Wells is organising a group of 70 Year 10 students to take part in the Army Challenge at HMS Raleigh. This is a South West schools competition giving the students a chance to experience team building and leadership challenges on a large scale.
Sports Relief
On the 15th July we are planning to hold a 1 mile run for the whole school to take part in, in aid of Sports Relief.

Newquay Primary family meeting, At this term’s meeting, the primary schools worked on their sports web pages, which are on the Treviglas web site and are being linked to their own sites. Dave Baron and his Technicians Academy ran this INSET and were a great help with one to one technical help for the Primary teachers. In the afternoon we moved venue to St. Columb Minor school and ran Dance INSET for KS 1 and KS2 teachers and TA’s with Jenny Cleverly (Dance specialist).
Before half term we ran a year 5/6 Rounders tournament and year 3-4 Athletics Festival. We had over 160 children taking part from the local primary schools and used over 50 Junior Sports Leaders and Six form National Diploma Sports course students to help run it.
In our Primary link work, we have used the Junior Sports Leaders this term in 4 of our feeder primary schools - Summercourt, Perranporth, Trevisker, and Indian Queens. The leaders have been running after school clubs for year 3-4 based on multi skills. With the schools, we have targeted low achievers in these clubs to raise their attainment.
