Key Stage 5

At KS5, students follow the Level 3 OCR Nationals in ICT.

The level 3 OCR National is equivalent to one A level and is studied across two years at post 16, each unit is assessed on a portfolio of coursework which is assessed by the teacher; there are no examinations for this course. Students will study six units across the two years, units including Digital business communication, Collaborative working, Problem Solving and Creating a digital showcase plus two other units. Students can gain a maximum of 120 UCAS points by gaining a Distinction (grade A) in this subject. Students would normally be expected to have a minimum of a Pass (grade C) in a level 2 ICT course to be accepted onto this course. The level 3 OCR National counts as one of a student’s A level choices and is a good course to combine with a wide range of other courses.

The level 3 OCR National in ICT is a useful course for many students; for those students who wish to specialise in ICT or Computing as a career or for degree level study please also consider the Technicians’ Academy course.
