Business Academy

Welcome to the Business Academy page. The Business Academy is an exciting new course which offers students the chance to study business at post 16 where an emphasis is placed upon business skills and creativity. The course is written in conjunction with The University of Plymouth and offers a guaranteed pathway to business related courses at the University of Plymouth. As Academy members, students work closely with the University with respect to the feedback they receive.

In their first module, Business Planning, students work collaboratively to set up their own business and try to bring a product to market. They learn about the logistics of business planning and have to present their findings to a panel comprising of University lecturers and local business partners (very much in the tradition of Dragons’ Den). Other modules include marketing, work Placement, Sustainable Development, Economics and Globalisation.

In total, students follow a 6 module programme which complements their other traditional Level 3 courses that they are taking. The Assessment of their work is varied ranging from portfolio to examinations.
